Primer Encuentro de Etnias y VIH Departamento de la Guajira 2008

En el marco del Primer Encuentro de Etnias y VIH Departamento de La Guajira, realizado en agosto de 2008, organizado por la FUNDACIÓN ESPERANZA ES VIDA con el apoyo de ONUSIDA Colombia, FUNDACIÓN SOLIDARIDAD CARIBE y UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL EQUIPO DE ANTROPOLOGIA MEDICA CRITICA, los pueblos indígenas WAYUU, WIWA, ARHUACOS y KOGUI, partiendo del hecho de que la conservación de la vida y por tanto la salud y la prevenci ón de la enfermedad son derechos fundamentales, que las comunidades indígenas hacen parte de la nación colombiana, que el Estado se constituye en garante de la vida, salud y educación de sus nacionales. La organización Wayuu Munsurrat rechaza la posible construcción de una base militar gringa en la Guajira Colombiana, en territorio Wayuu, lo que involucraría a nuestros pueblos en agresiones y guerras imperiales, que solo buscan producir mas dolor, miseria, arrebato de nuestros territorios y saqueo a los recursos naturales que el desarrollo capitalista de E.U. necesita.

Parece que a los gobiernos de E.U. no les han bastado los 300.000 muertos por la violencia, que se desato luego del asesinato por parte de la CIA del caudillo Jorge Eliécer Gaitán, no le ha bastado la sangre colombiana derramada en el conflicto de Corea, los 30.000 muertos provocados por los paramilitares, creados, entrenados, pertrechados y “perdonados” por ellos; los mas de 4.000 sindicalistas asesinados, los miles de indígenas, afrodescendientes y los cientos de miles de campesinos …

URGENT UPDATE TO THE NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY

The Organization Wayúu Munusurat is a group that has been working for the defence of the human rights of displaced peoples and the victims of paramilitary groups operating in La Guajira, Colombia with the accompaniment of national and international organizations.

With this communiqué we want to update everyone of the grave situation that members of our organization are facing including death threats, hostilities, persecution and pressure on behalf of the Northern Bloc of the Autodefence group (paramilitaries) of the Counter Wayúu Insurgency who have not demobilized and continue to operating within our territories.

A Fraternal greeting from the Wayúu community of Bahía Portete.

Once again I come to tell you we are approaching the fourth anniversary of the massacre of our community. A genocide committed against our people where women and children were killed, this consisting in the largest affront against our culture in all of history, because it harmed the most sacred in our community: the women and children.

This brutal aggression forced all of our families into displacement leaving us no time to look for the disappeared and to mourn as our done in our tradition and custom. This is the reason, with overwhelming pain, but also, with the disposition to continue forward in our search for justice, for the recuperation of our ancestral territory and the defense of our culture.

The displaced community of Bahìa Portete found in the Alta Guajira once again denounces the latest incursión of the paramilitary group CONTRAINSURGENCIA WAYUU under command of the alias “ PABLO ” into their ancestral territory that has once already been bathed in blood. This time the unfortunate victims of these mercenaries were: CHICHI EPINAYU of 35 years of age that was horrbily killed yesterday November 23 and JULIAN EPINAYU of 68 years of age who was kidnapped for who knows what purpose or if he is even dead or alive. After being subject to the tortures and brutalities that these murderers use to cause terror in our families and acheive their criminal objectives, MASPARRAY EPINAYU, was able to survive and is currently with serious condition due to bullet wounds from the firearms that these assassins used to victimize families of the EPINAYU and URIANA clans. En el reporte judicial del heraldo, jorge 40 confeso la masacre de bahia portete hechos que sucedieron el 18 de abril del 204 y no 16 abril, el ex comandante paramilitar del bloque norte admitió que sus hombres bajo el mando de alias ‘Pablo’ y ‘Chema Bala’ dispararon contra un grupo indígena porque seguen ellos “habían identificado que se dedicaban al secuestro y al robo”.
